Gary Wolff is a civil engineer with more than 40 years of water resources and sanitation experience. He has continuously worked, or been an unpaid professional engineer, for government, private, and nonprofit organizations since 1984.

Appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger and confirmed by the State Senate as Vice Chair of the California State Water Resources Control Board, making water quality and water rights decisions that affected 36 million Californians.

Hands-On Management Record

As Executive Director of Alameda County’s StopWaste, Gary reduced its fee-supported budget by about 14% while significantly expanding revenue through grants and contracts. StopWaste helps 1.6 million residents and more than 10,000 businesses reduce solid waste, energy waste in buildings, and water waste.

Unrivaled Academic Training

Gary holds advanced degrees from Stanford and UC Berkeley in civil and water resources engineering and resource economics.
